| Toad is Oliver's brakevan, or caboose. He rides at the end of the train, providing a place for the railway workers to rest during travel. Typically a red light would be hung on the back as a warning to any other engines approaching from the rear. Also, the brakes were set to drag a little to help prevent slack and bounce in the train's couplers. In America, brakevans were called cabooses, and usually painted red. By Learning Curve |
